Brendan Boyce (25) is a 20km and 50km race walker from Milford, Co Donegal. He is the first Donegal athlete to qualify for the Olympic Games for 36 years.

Boyce qualified for the 2012 Games 50km walk in Naumburg, Germany, on Saturday 24 September. He did this with a time of 3 hours 57 minutes 58 seconds, just inside the Olympic qualifying time of 3:59.00

He was 15th in the World University games 20km.

A late convert to race walking, he now is fourth in the all-time Irish ranking list. Only 25, he is based and trains at the UK’s national race walking centre in Leeds and represents Letterkenny AC.
