Chloe Magee was beaten in the quarter-finals of the Irish International Badminton tournament today with top seed Hongyan Pi edging out the Irish player in three sets.

Pi secured a 21-11 15-21 21-17 win in Lisburn to reach the last four despite a spirited showing from Magee.

Magee’s quarter-final finish is enough to guarantee a place at next summer’s London Olympic Games.

Chloe and Sam Magee also tasted defeat in the mix doubles. The top seeds were beaten by Austrian pair Rasmus Bonde and Maria Helsbol.
