Ger Rogan has been appointed as the new manager of the Derry Senior and Under-21 hurling teams.
Rogan was ratified in his new position at a meeting of the Derry County Board on Tuesday night.
County Chairman John Keenan has welcomed the appointment of the former Antrim star:
‘We are delighted to have Ger on board as the manager of our Senior and Under-21 hurlers.
‘To have a man like Ger who has played in an All-Ireland Senior hurling final overseeing our adult hurling teams is a great boost for hurling in the county.
‘He also has a fine record in management and having worked with a number of clubs here in Derry he is very familiar with the hurling scene in our county,’ he said.
Keenan also praised the work of outgoing manager James O’Kane.
‘I would like to thank James and his backroom team for the massive effort that they have put into working for the betterment of Derry hurling during their tenure.
‘James’s commitment to the development of hurling in our county is second to none and the Derry County board and wish him all the best for future.’
