Former Hurler of the Year Jamesie O'Connor has decided to retire from inter-county hurling, according to a report in The Sunday Tribune today.
O'Connor will take a coaching position in the Clare minor team next year.
"I'm totally happy with my decision. I've no regrets because I've had a great career."
"I've 12 years done and I'm not getting any younger. I didn't know if I had the appetite or the will to go back again to do what's required to get myself right. If you don't know that, you're going to struggle at the highest level."
O'Connor played an integral part in the Banner men's 1995 and 1997 All-Ireland wins.
He was also in sparkling form last season, when Clare took the back-door route before eventually succumbing to Kilkenny in their replayed quarter-final.
