Ireland men's team lost 3-1 to Spain in their second meeting as part of the warm weather training trip to Terrassa, Spain.

The visitors went 1-0 down after just the 11 minutes before Spain doubled their lead on 26 minutes thanks to Santi Freixa in a half that the hosts mostly dominated, despite two scoring chances during the first period from Ireland.

Spain, ranked eighth in the world, widened the gap in the second-half going 3-0 up when Roger Padros converted a penalty corner set piece before Ireland got their consolation goal, following a great counter attack and good work from Michael Robson and Nick Burns for marksman Shane O’Donoghue to convert.

Ireland will play Spain again on Wednesday at 2.30pm (Irish Time).
