Ireland's women's hockey team suffered a 2-1 loss to their Argentinean counterparts in front of a large home crowd in Parana on Saturday.

Argentina took the lead from a penalty stroke after 18 minutes from Noel Barrionuevo.

Ireland had conceded five penalty corners in the first half but a combination of good defensive running by Nikki Evans and good goalkeeping by Emma Gray kept the visitors in touch.

Ireland had a penalty corner of their own in the half which was well defended by Argentina.

Ireland got the perfect start to the second half when two minutes in Audrey O’Flynn dragged home from a penalty corner to level matters.

Argentina scored the winner in the 60th minute from a penalty corner, their third of the half.
