Irish amateur Kevin Phelan has booked his place at the US Open by winning the qualifying event at the Ritz-Carlton in Bradenton, Florida.
The US-based 22-year-old carded rounds of 65 and 70 to finish nine under overall, one clear of American John Hahn.
He told golfweek.com: "Patience really helped me today. It's a tough finish; it's easy to make bogeys coming in. (You) just have to stay patient."
Phelan has previously played in the 2010 US Open, but as a 19-year-old rookie he failed to make the cut with rounds of 83 and 75.
