Ireland's Paul Dunne is just three shot off the lead at the Canary Islands Championship after the first round at Golf Costa Adeje.
The Greystones golfer registered eight birdies and two bogeys for a six-under-par 65 as Italy's Francesco Laporta set the pace.
Laporta holds a one-shot lead over Spain's Scott Fernandez, with Adri Arnaus, Alfredo Garcia-Heredia and Joel Stalter another stroke adrift.
Niall Kearney (68), Cormac Sharvin (69), Tom McKibbin (69) and Jonathan Caldwell (70) ensured the remainder of the Irish contingent finished under par in Tenerife.
In what is only his second European Tour tournament since turning professional last month, McKibbin will have been particularly pleased with his round.
The 18-year-old started with a bogey and ended with a double, but otherwise played with real quality. Starting on the back nine, McKibbin bounced back from dropping a shot on his first by making back-to-back birdies on the next two holes, before adding an eagle on the par-five 13th.
The Newtonabbey native, who hails from the same Holywood golf course as mentor Rory McIlroy, posted four further pars before adding another birdie on his ninth to turn on an excellent four-under 32.
He maintained his composure with eight straight pars on the back nine before handing two shots back on the final hole.
