Former Wexford player Tom Dempsey says Wexford need a strong start against Dublin in Saturday's Leinster SHC clash.
The last provincial victory for the Model County came in 2011 against Antrim and Dempsey knows they can’t afford to let Anthony Daly’s men get on the front foot.
The RTÉ analyst told the Irish Independent: "Dublin will be full of confidence in the first 10 or 15 minutes. The longer Wexford can stay in the game, the more brittle they (Dublin) will become.
"I think we will have a fairly sizeable following. Wexford Park with 15 minutes to go if we are in contention? It could become very tricky."
The sides met in Division 1B of the Allianz National Hurling League when Dublin recorded a 3-19 to 0-15 win in Wexford Park, Saturday’s venue, but Dempsey says he has noticed a change in attitude since that day in March.
"The league game was poor from a Wexford perspective. But the vibes emerging from the players are that they are really running on top of the ground and coming into a vein of form," added the All-Ireland winner.
Meanwhile, Wexford dual player Lee Chin may take part in two Championship games this weekend.
The footballers are in action against Louth on Sunday and Chin is expected to play some part provided he comes through Saturday evening’s hurling tie unscathed.
