Dublin City Council has announced that an extra 1,000 free tickets to the homecoming event for the county's All-Ireland winning senior ladies and men's football teams will be made available to the public.
Tickets for 'The Homecoming', celebrating the men's historic five-in-a-row and the ladies' three-in-a-row, on Sunday 29 September will be released on Eventbrite on Saturday 28 September at 12 noon.
The council has been criticised over the decision to limit capacity at the Merrion Square event to 15,000 and for only making 3,500 tickets available to the general public.
That amount has now increased after Dublin County Board returned some of their allocation for the GAA clubs.
The council insists that numbers are being limited for safety reasons and today added that despite discussions with An Garda Síochána, Dublin Fire Brigade and bus companies, "the consensus was that it was logistically impractical to safely stage an open top bus tour which could draw additional visitors to the already sold-out event on Merrion Square."
The event, which will be streamed live on the Dublin City Council Events Facebook page from 1.30pm on Sunday, will be hosted by Marty Morrissey and will feature live music from Keywest, Eoin Thomas & The Rising Sons, interviews with former Dublin football stars, a specially commissioned video of Dublin wins, highlights from both the ladies and men's matches and the all-conquering Dublin teams and staff.
