Almost 1,000 people from throughout the country gathered at Cork City Hall tonight to pay tribute to one of the county's most respected GAA figures, Dr Con Murphy.

Murphy has been medical advisor and selector to 12 senior All-Ireland-winning teams.

For more than 40 years, he has been an integral part of Cork success in hurling and football. Top sports people from all over the country were among those paying tribute to him.

Proceeds from the event go to Cork GAA and the Cork Simon Community.
