It was celebration time for the Mayo U21 footballers after beating Cork 5-07 to 1-14 to land the county's fifth All-Ireland title in the grade.

A pulsating encounter at Cusack Park in Ennis saw the westerners finish the stronger, with Conor Loftus grabbing the crucial goal two minutes from time.

Reflecting on a first All-Ireland success in 2006, Mayo boss Michael Solan said: "Winning the title means everything. There's no other word to put on it. You always dream of these days and getting into this situation."

Meanwhile, defender Shairoze Akram could not confirm whether he was the first player born in Pakistan to win an All-Ireland medal.
