Cavan saw off Monaghan 1-10 to 0-05 in an ill-tempered Allianz Division 3 clash in Breffni Park.

Conor McManus was sent off in the first quarter for an off-the-ball incident and he was followed to the line soon after by Cavan’s Martin Dunne.

The game became 13-a-side when John McCutcheon and Gavin Doogan were both dismissed in the second half.

The only goal of the game came from Patrick Reilly's late penalty as Terry Hyland’s men claimed their first win of the league.

Elsewhere, a goal from Paul Ward helped Fermanagh record a 2-12 to 2-06 win over Roscommon at Brewster Park.

In Division 4, Waterford continued their solid start with a 2-08 to 0-09 win over Tipperary in Dungarvan.

Paul Whyte and Robert Aherne raised the green flags for the Déise.
