Fermanagh put Donegal to the sword in the Power NI Dr McKenna Cup at a foggy Brewster Park tonight beating the All-Ireland champions 2-15 to 2-07 in Enniskillen.

The home side got off to the ideal start as Darryl Keenan rattled the net in the opening minutes for the first score of the evening much to the delight of the 1,523 present at the Fermanagh venue.

Shane McGowan hit back for Jim McGuinness’ men and points were exchanged as Fermanagh kept their noses ahead, Marty O'Brien adding to another point before the half ended with another Fermanagh point, the score 1-06 to 0-04 at the break.

And things got worse for the All-Ireland champions early in the second half as Tomas Corrigan scored Fermanagh’s second goal of the evening as conditions were proving difficult for both sides with the fog lingering in the Enniskillen sky.

In fact, the Fermanagh lead stretched to 14 points as they led 2-12 to 0-04 before Donegal got some momentum in the latter stages of the second half.

Adrian Hanlon and Dermot Molloy grabbed late goals for the visitors but Fermanagh never looked like relinquishing the lead as they strolled to an eight-point victory.

So the All-Ireland champions, just home from their trip to Dubai, have been brought back to earth with a bang in foggy Fermanagh as 2013 starts with Jimmy losing matches.

But it’s only January.
