Kilkenny's Marion Hughes followed up a fifth-place finish with HHS Pinky in the Grand Prix at Abu Dhabi on Friday night with victory on the same horse today.

Last night, competing at the two-star level, Hughes had a single rail down in the first round of a tough Grand Prix class that saw only two double clear rounds. The laurels went to local rider Nadia Taryam Abdul Aziz on Calawo.

In today's victory, Hughes steered Miguel Maria Bravo's HHS Pinky to a win over the horse's Portuguese owner, who rode Cash Up into the runner-up slot.

In the five-star section of the Abu Dhabi event, Tipperary's Denis Lynch was unlucky not to qualify for the jump-off in tonight's Global Champions Tour Grand Prix with All Star 5, collecting four faults in the first round.

Earlier in the day he had a third-place finish with Night Train, in the speed class, and a second place on the same horse in the show's opening two-phase competition.
