Ireland's Camilla Speirs jumped five places in the Young Rider
European Eventing Championships on Saturday after a clear cross-country phase and is now in 14th spot overall.

Riding the eight year-old Irish-bred bay gelding 'Portersize Just a Jiff', the 19 year-old Kildare student maintained her overnight score of 52.10 penalties.

Meanwhile Sam Dempsey, Ireland's other contender at the Championships in Kreuth, Germany, jumped a massive 16 places with another eight year-old Irish-bred gelding, 'Teldon'. Dempsey, who is 20-years-old and from Wicklow, was placed 40th after the dressage test on Friday, but a zero penalty outing on the cross country course today sent him soaring up the rankings to 24th on a score of 59.40.

The lead in the European Championships is still held by Germany's
Julia Krajewski on 43.50, while Britain's Emily Llewellyn holds the
runner-up position.

Show jumping, the final phase of the Championships, will be held on Sunday.
