Ireland's Dan Martin has dropped back in fifth place overall in the Volta Catalunya after losing time on the leaders on today's stage four from Llanars to La Molina.

Miguel Ángel López took a convincing stage victory, surging up the time-sheets to take the overall lead from England's Mark Yates.

López was locked in a battle with Yates (Mitchelton-Scott), Egan Bernal (Team Sky) and Nairo Quintana (Movistar) in the final 5km, over-taking the breakaway group before claiming a 16 second victory over them.

Martin finished 11th on the stage but is only 46 seconds behind the new race leader and remains very much in the hunt going into tomorrow's stage to Sant Cugat Del Valles.
