'Corky' comes from, appropriately enough, Cork. RTÉ Radio’s number one rugby commentator, Michael has been treated for bumps on his head, having hit the roofs of both Croke Park and Thomond Park during Six Nations and Heineken Cup commentaries.

His commentary on Munster’s first Heineken Cup final victory registered 4.7 on the richter scale, and thanks are due to his co-commentator Donal Lenihan who managed to hold Michael back, when he was set to leap off the third tier of the stand in his excitement.

Michael has been likened to Barney Rubble in his stature but this website would like to disassociate itself from any such inference.
