Yes indeed, Micheál is the doyen of sports commentators, or as he might prefer “An trachtaire mor” (we couldn’t find a translation for doyen, in the Irish-English dictionary!).
It’s impossible to capture the man in a few short sentences - suffice to say he is a legend and a man of many interests above and beyond the world of Gaelic games. Greyhound racing, golf, literature, poetry, history, language and culture are but a few of his passions.
His favourite place in the world is probably Kerry. He says he’s never heard of Matchbox 20 or Jarabe de Palo (Jacqui and Con’s favourite bands) but he’s willing to give them a chance!
His current golf handicap is 11 but he’s hoping that it will improve. We’ll keep you posted.
