Middlesex's Ed Joyce wants a crack at Test cricket after his second century moved Ireland to within reach of the ICC Trophy semi-finals.

Dubliner Joyce, the first batsman to reach 1,000 runs in county cricket this season, top-scored with 115 as Ireland beat the United Arab Emirates by two wickets in a last-ball finish.

"David Graveney and the selectors have been saying nice things and I'd be lying if I said that didn't please me," said Joyce.

"I'm qualified through residency now and there is no reason why I can't get a shot in good time.

"However, at the moment it is more important for me to go back to Middlesex and keep scoring runs."

Ireland are now unbeaten in three matches and will start hot favourites to beat the US today, following their consecutive defeats to Denmark and Uganda.

"I thought the UAE would always be our toughest group game but we are not in the semi-finals yet," added Joyce.
