The first European AIBA Open Boxing Olympic qualifier has been switched to Samsun, Turkey from 7-18 April.

The tournament from men and women was originally down for Istanbul, Turkey from 20 April to 1 May, but was changed after the AIBA Executive Committee approved the change of dates and host city.

The Irish Amateur Boxing Association will ratify their squad for Turkey in due course.

A number of training camps and tournaments have been pencilled in the build up to the first big outing of the year for Irish boxing.

Joe Ward, Michael Conlon, Paddy Barnes and Stephen Donnelly have already qualified for Rio 2016.

London 2012 Olympian Adam Nolan will not take part in the qualifiers after the IABA were forced to ratify World Series of Boxing-qualifed Donnelly in the welterweight division by 4 December.
