Ireland were awarded the Best Nation trophy after winning six bouts out of six at the Elite International tournament in Berck, France.

Hugh Myers got Ireland off to a winning start, while Olympians Paddy Barnes, John Joe Nevin, Adam Nolan and Joe Ward all claimed victories.

Jason Quigley, the current European Elite champion, gave an exhibition of boxing to completely dominate Michal Kowalczik of Poland.

Joe Ward, the 2011 European Elite champion, completed the double hat-trick with a unanimous decision over France’s Souliman Abdourachidov.

Overall, Ireland claimed 13 wins from 15 outings in 24 hours at the French event.
