Olympic medallists Paddy Barnes and John Joe Nevin will not be defending their titles at the 2013 National Elite Senior Championships, which begin at the National Stadium tonight.
Bantanweight Nevin has an injured right wrist and light flyweight Barnes has flu, according to the IABA, and neither attended today's compulsory weigh-in.
With new champions to be crowned in a fortnight's time, the absence of Barnes and Nevin is sure to complicate selection for the European Championships, which are coming up in May.
Defending super-heavyweight Con Sheehan weighed-in today but also withdrew with a hand injury.
Katie Taylor weighed in just under the women’s 60kg lightweight limit but with no other boxers in the division will be champion by default.
