Irish heavyweight Con Sheehan will be boxing for at least a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships in Serbia today.

Sheehan, from the Clonmel club, meets Olig Teifanov in the quarter finals of the tournament in Sombor.

Cairn Lodge Belfast bantamweight  Mark McCullagh is also through to a quarter final. He will meet England's Mike McGuire tomorrow (Thursday) in a repeat of last May's EU Junior Championships semi final; a match the English teenager won.

Cavan flyweight John Joe Nevin, part of a five strong Irish squad in Serbia, will also be in the ring today for a last sixteen clash against a Polish opponent.

Anthony Cacace and Michael Collins both bowed out of the tournament after preliminary round reversals on Tuesday and Monday.
