The Basketball Ireland Men’s Premier League will have another team next year with Swords Thunder signing up to join Ireland’s top league.

Thunder’s addition means that 11 teams will be part of next season’s competition.

The Dublin club competed last season for the first time in the Basketball Ireland Men’s Division One where they had an outstanding campaign, finishing in second place, just two wins shy of first place.

Success on the court combined with a passionate home support from fans throughout the season has led the club to enter the Men’s Premier League for the 2014-15 season.

Swords Basketball Club club secretary Paula Corr said: “We are delighted to be moving up into the Premier League next season.

“It is a really exciting time for the club and for the team and we can’t wait for October and our first game.”

The Basketball Ireland Men’s Premier League season will commence in early October when Killester of Dublin will attempt to defend their title.
