The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) has opened a bank account for donations for the families affected by the recent fire at Carrickmines.

Five children and five adults, all from the same extended family, perished in the blaze at the halting site on the Glenamuck Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The account is now open at AIB 10 Main Street, Dundrum, Co. Dublin.

The book will be open from 10am to 5pm each day until Friday.

Women's Refuge

We have heard much comment and indeed criticism about the state’s response to the housing crisis over the last number of months.

And now the news that a womens’ refuge in is under threat of closure by Christmas, could add to the growing figures on the emergency accommodation lists.

Figures yesterday from the IRish Dental Association indicated over 10,000 children under the age of 15 are being admitted to hospital to have teeth removed under general ansethetic. 

The Association described the problem as a national disgrace. 

Their figures are however being refuted now by Dr. Dympna Kavanagh, Chief Dental Officer with the Department of Health who joined Sean from our Limerick studio.

Turkey EU Migrant Agreement

EU leaders have agreed to re-energise Turkey’s EU membership bid and will look at easing visa restrictions for its citizens travelling to Europe if it helps ease the flow of migrants coming to the continent...

The agreement was reached by EU leaders in Brussels yesterday just two weeks ahead of a general election in Turkey.
