    Today with Sean O'Rourke

The mid-morning current affairs magazine with the stories of the day, sharp analysis, sports coverage, in-depth features and consumer interest.

    German Student Killing

Last week two young Dublin men were jailed for the killing of a 22-year-old German student, Thomas Heinrich who was stabbed in Rialto two years ago.

Sean spoke to Thomas’ mother, Alexandra Thom Heinrich who is now back home in Munich.

    Au Pairs

At this time of the year, a lot of parents of young children will be looking at their options come September and it seems that more and more are choosing au pairs as an affordable form of family support.

Roisin O'Hara joined Sean in studio to talk about the pros and cons of childcare options in the home.

    Mother & Baby Homes

The discovery of almost 800 children’s bodies in the grounds of a mother and baby home in Tuam has reopened the pain of the many instances of institutional abuse in our past.

But a new question has emerged alongside this story – is there a wider blame to be laid outside of the religious institutions and at the foot of Irish society itself?

Sean was joined in studio by Diarmaid Ferriter, UCD Professor and historian, and by Fr Vincent Twomey, Divine Word Missionary Priest, author and theologian.

    Iraqi Conflict

The Islamist militant group ISIS has said it is establishing a “caliphate”, or Islamic state, on the territories it controls in Iraq and Syria.  Setting up a separate state ruled by strict Islamic law has been a main goal of the group for some time.

Sean spoke to Shashank Joshi, Research Fellow at the Royal Services Institute in London.

    Mrs Brown's Boys

The long-awaited Mrs Brown’s Boys: D’Movie came out at the weekend and while the response from fans and viewers has been positive, the critics are not enamoured.

But that’s par for the course for comedian Brendan O’Carroll’s creation, which has won hearts in Ireland and the UK, along with BAFTAs, but has yet to crack a smile in the critics.

Sean spoke to stand-up comedian and writer, Eric Lalor...

    Sporting Weekend

For a look back at the sporting weekend – from the penalty shoot outs in Brazil to the Dubs marching on in the GAA, Sean was joined in studio by former All-Ireland winning hurling manager with Cork, Donal O’Grady, Linda Maher, Features Editor with The Irish Daily Mail and former All Star and All Ireland winning footballer with Armagh, Enda McNulty.
