The Poetry Programme, Sunday 25th October
Maria McManus is a poet and playwright. The powerful poems in her collection Available Light (Arlen House) feature birds and the art of augury, and she talks with Olivia about the ideas behind the poems and reads from some of them.
Maria is also the director of the Poetry JukeBox project, which brings poetry to the street, where people can stop and listen to a poem.
From their home in Hawaii, Peter and Cathy Halstead, founders of the Adrian Brinkerhoff Poetry Foundation, talk with Olivia about working in collaboration with Poetry Ireland to commission a series of filmed readings by some of our newest poetic voices. We hear a poem by Nithy Kasa, one of the contributors to the film series, and also a poem by Peter Halstead himself.
