    Mornings with Dave Fanning Search for Ireland’s Most Musical Family

    Brothers, sisters, cousins, in-laws, step fathers, grannies – the show is looking for families that play together to enter the competition. Non family members are permitted – as long as family is at the heart of it – as with The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem and The Fureys and Davey Arthur.

    Send us a 4’00 maximum clip performing the song or music of your choice – it does not need to be an original piece of music.

    Upload it to Youtube and email us the link to davefanning@rte.ie.

    You also need to send us a 100 word supporting paragraph telling us your story and why you should be chosen.

    The closing date for entries is 5pm on Wednesday  26th August.

    Our final will be held the first week in September and finalists need to be available then to perform before our judges.

    The judges’ decision is final.

    Australian Sports Stars

    No fewer than 15 of the Australian rugby squad who gave us a hiding at the weekend have been disciplined for going on a midweek drinking binge before the match. It is the first time Australian sports stars have run into booze-fueled trouble. Damian McIver is Sports Reporter at ABC Hobart joins John on the line this morning.

    Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards - Philip Meyer

    Philip Meyer's first book American Rust told a modern story, of rust belt America, towns desolated by the collapse of the steel industry. This time, he's in Texas, in an epic novel that spans generations of the one powerful family, land & oil. Philip joins John this morning. Philip's book 'The Son' is one of the six books selected in the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards, in the John Murray Show category.

    AIG - All Blacks Comp

    Earlier in the programme we asked listeners to take part in our competition this morning, by singing a chorus of Ireland's Call. We will be giving away 200 euro each day Friday & then the four winners will compete to win a 'All Black experience' for two people from AIG Insurance.
