Clodagh Walsh

Clodagh Walsh is a native of Waterford, but now lives in Co Wicklow.

Her radio career began during her school days when she worked part time for the then pirate station, Waterford Local Radio. She presented everything from young people's programmes to late night jazz. She also produced the station's first radio play.

Clodagh then became public relations officer with the fledgling Garter Lane Arts Centre, while continuing to work in radio, freelancing with WLR and RTÉ's Na Ceithre h'Airde programme.

In the late 1980s, she moved to Dublin and joined the news team in FM 104, one of the first newly licensed commercial radio stations. Following a stint there, she decided to go freelance, first doing film and theatre reviews for The Barry Lang Show on 2FM and eventually moving to the RTÉ newsroom, where she has worked in both radio and television. She spent many years in the Oireachtas Unit, both as reporter and presenter.

In 2001, she took a year's leave of absence from RTÉ to live in Italy... and returned nine years later!

Happy to be back in the newsroom, Clodagh is enjoying presenting the "It Says In The Papers" slot on Morning Ireland. She says getting up at 4am has its joys (sometimes!) -- the winter sky and early summer mornings in particular.

When not greeting the dawn, Clodagh enjoys spending time with family and friends, swimming and popping a few fences at the local stables. As a founder member and former director of the Red Kettle Theatre Company, she still takes an interest in all things theatrical.
