The prestigious annual Rose D'Or Awards (now in their 55th year) honour the very best of international radio, TV and online entertainment programmes, and they will take place later this year. Over 400 programmes from more than 130 broadcasters and production companies in 33 different countries were submitted for this year’s Rose d’Or awards. For the first time, a new competition category, 'Radio Event Of The Year' was created. We entered European Dawn Chorus in this category, and we're absolutely delighted to let you know that we're one of the final nominees!! Met Society Symposium
Evelyn Cusack was a big hit when she was on the programme last month. And Evelyn's been onto us today to remind you that the Met Society is hosting a Meteorogical Symposium in NUI Galway this weekend. There will be lectures and talks on Saturday and Sunday. And it's open to the public.
Meteorological Symposium in NUI Galway
There will be lectures/talks on Saturday, April 5th, 10am to 5pm on probing and measuring Ireland's Atmosphere. The highlight feature lecture will be at 4pm by Dinah Molloy on gleaming weather informations from old Whaler's logs.
The public are welcome to attend. There will be two coffee & buns breaks, and a brochure containing abstracts of each talk and some posters from PhD students on their current research.
There will also be a day-trip on Sunday, April 6th to Mace Head Atmospheric Station in Connemara.
The speakers will be from ECMWF (European Center for Medium Range Weather Forecasting), Met Éireann, RPII, EPA, NUI Galway and the Marine Institute.

D'Mammy Of The Year 2014
As you know yesterday was Mother's Day – and we hope all mothers were treated well, but it was also the day we found out who won D’MAMMY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION.
The Sunday World and Mooney have been running a competition over the past few weeks, with americanholidays.com and Royal Caribbean, to find the ultimate Irish mammy.
