Keith Barry's Dark Side

Keith Barry's Dark Side

His new show, The Dark Side, has been described as his most terrifying yet. We’re promised witchcraft, voodoo, Ouija boards and séances; volunteers will become possessed by demons and audience members will receive messages from "the other side"!  Keith Barry joins Shay in studio to chat about The Dark Side!

The Dark Side continues at Dublin's Olympia Theatre until July 27th - for more information, visit http://olympia.ie/whats-on/keith-barry-the-dark-side/.

Tribute Bands

Tribute Bands

Reports surfaced last year that the four members of ABBA, all of whom are fit and well, were offered a figure around €1 billion to reform and do a world tour.

As we all know, the band have resolutely stuck to their guns, saying they will never reform. And they each have their own reasons for that.

But the absence of ABBA gives a great opportunity to the many ABBA tribute bands around the world, including our own ABBA-ESQUE (pictured).

In fact, the tribute band phenomenon started with BJORN AGAIN, an Australian group formed back in 1988 to capitalise on the band's split. And recently, it was reported that this band, the king and queen of tribute bands, have racked up, over the last 25 years, career earnings of up to €50 million.

They are HUGE! And not only are they huge, but the whole market for tribute bands has become huge in the intervening years.

Shay is joined on the line today by Ed Faulkner, a former tribute band singer himself, and founder of a festival that's been described as a "Glastonbury for Tribute Acts", called "TRIB-FEST" (www.tribfest.co.uk).

And he's also joined in studio by Derek Power, who is Bono in U2 tribute band The Joshua Tree (www.thejoshuatree.ie), and by Mooney producer Olan McGowan!

Using Medicines Properly

Using Medicines Properly

Shay is joined in studio today by Waterford pharmacist Paul Kenny, who'll be answering your questions on how best to use medicines, what's on the market, using generic medicines etc... If you have a question that you would like to put to Paul, then e-mail mooney@rte.ie, tweet @MooneyShow or text us on 51551.
