  • THE CROWN -  Second season came on board before Christmas and it’s a huge success for the streaming service.

SING STREET:

  • SING STREET – 12s - Plot: John Carney (he of ‘Once’ fame) story about a loved up teen (Cosmo/Walsh-Peelo) who starts a rockband to gain the attention of his muse (Raphina/Boynton). A gorgeous gritty, modern day musical, story capturing the best of 80’s Dublin from music to fashion to economic mood. My kids love it.
  • Stars: Ferdia Walsh-Peelo, Lucy Boynton, Aidan Gillen, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Jack Reynor.

SKY BOXSETS....SUGGESTIONS FOR CHILDREN:

  • There are over 250 boxsets to choose from.  Sky Kids app has lots of games and shows to keep them entertained.
  • RATBURGERThe David Walliams book was adapted over Christmas by Sky One and was a huge success with kids. Zoe is a little girl living with her lazy stepmother and father after her own mother died.  She’s being bullied at school....her hamster Gingernut has died and she adopts a rat from her bedroom.  She has to avoid the dastardly Burger Man Bert.

SKY BOXSET OPTIONS FOR ADULTS.....SOME TOP PICKS:

  •  BIG LITTLE LIES -  Stars Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon as part of a group of mums in Monteray, California with all the rumours and gossip swirling around them.  A murder occurs on trivia night for the school and we work back to see who is in the list of suspects and what happened to lead to that point.
  • MAD MEN -  Go back to the glamour of the 1960s advertising world in New York.  Elisabeth Moss (she of Handmaid Tale fame)  and Jon Hamm star.
  • RIVIERA -  If you want to escape the snow and soak up the sun on the telly what about Sky’s series set in and called Riveria.  Starring Julia Styles as an art dealer her millionaire husband is killed when his yacht explodes and she discovers his life was built on violence and illegality.  But who killed him and what’s she going to do about that?  You  might remember it had an Irish connection as it was written by Neil Jordan who went on to disown it.
  • MODERN FAMILY -   The comedy mockumentary stars Ed O’Neill as the patriarch of an American family.
  • THE YOUNG POPE – Jude Law stars as Pope Pius XIII the first American pontiff.  Diane Keaton also stars in it
