Liveline Wednesday 26 February 2014

Discussion and debate with Joe Duffy

On today's Liveline, we spoke to people affected by the new building regulations which are coming into action this Saturday. Sean says that he will be out of a job. Padraig is a builder's providers and has been holding seminars to inform people.

Independent TD Mick Wallace stood up in the Daill earlier today and said it was a 'sham' and spoke about Alan Shatter's attitude to him as 'long-haired' and with 'raggedy trousers'. There was much comment on this speech with Tommy saying Mr Wallace was wrong to say such a thing and others supporting him.

Kelly rang to talk about her mother who has been housebound due to rheumatoid arthritis. She is in so much pain that she needs a specialist wheelchair. Eileen, her mother, got on the phone and spoke to Joe about how difficult life is, from missing her granddaughter's confirmation and not being able to sit in the garden on a summer's day.

Andrew from Pharmaher rang and offered Eileen bathroom equipment and a new wheelchair. He says that someone will be at her house first thing tomorrow morning.
