Josephine's son has wanted to be a doctor since he was 6-years-old.  He did his Leaving Cert and HPAT exam this year.  While he's expected to do very well in his Leaving Cert he's already received his HPAT results and got nowhere near what he needs.  He won't get into medicine.

Joe discusses some personal issues and difficulties for students doing their leaving cert and hoping to get into Medicine. The Health Professions Admissions Test (HPAT) is a university admissions test. It is currently used by all universities in Ireland for admissions to medicine courses.

Should the HPAT be abandoned? Is it a fair assessment of a students ability? Sharon phoned to explain how she had to leave Ireland and move to Slovakia to follow her dream to study medicine.
