Geraldine Essalhi spoke to Joe about the brutal killing of her son Adil Essalhi in 2011. She received a letter from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal saying she was awarded €35,000 but unfortunately they are unable to pay out the money until 2014. Geraldine says she was depending on a portion of this money to pay the funeral costs which she still owes. Donna Kinsella sister of Wayne Kinsella convicted of Adil Essahli’s murder also spoke to Joe.
Caroline's 1-year-old daughter Evie has a brain tumour. On top of the stress and trauma of her illness, they have now been refused a medical card. The medication is very expensive. Her consultant wrote on her application, they got a TD to make representations. It’s a stress they don’t need. Antoinette says she wants to know what has changed with the medical card? Antoinette's son Jamie, 13, is a patient in John's Ward - he has leukaemia. He will have had 3 years of chemotherapy in August. For the first two years he automatically got a medical card. This is the first time she had to fill out forms and apply for it.
