Dominic McGrath left the town of Lanesborough, Co Longford in 1827 and went to America. Now many generations later, the McGrath's have returned to the Midland's town to meet their Irish cousins at a big party on the banks of the River Shannon.(2000)
A documentary on the original ‘Big Picnic’, a huge traditional music session held in Lanesborough, County Longford to celebrate the return of all the McGrath Diaspora from America to the small Midland’s town on the banks of the river Shannon for one big celebration.
In 1827, a member of the McGrath clan emigrated from Lanesborough and headed West and now, many, many generations later, the McGrath’s have all returned home from the States for a massive party to celebrate Ireland, America and ties of recent emigration.
