Made In Temple Bar

Give some artists and producers a topic and ask them to come up with a Curious Ear - then sit back and enjoy.

Temple Bar Cultural Trust commissioned 7 programmes for the Made In Temple Bar Festival - the only requirement was that the programme-makers base their pieces in Temple Bar.

The event, for which the works were commissioned, is called Lights Out Listening.

Every day from Monday 18th - Sunday 24th July, 2011 at the Irish Landmark Trust Building, RTE Radio 1 will play an hour of radio documentaries for festival audiences.

These types of listening sessions already take place in various European and American cities.

Often radio is something we listen to alone - it’s intimate - but listening to a documentary with other people? It’s a great experience; especially when the lights are low and you get to concentrate on the sound.

It’s a bit like the difference between watching a DVD and going to the cinema.

Each listening session will also feature a short, sound-rich audio documentary recorded within Temple Bar, many from independent producers - these have been commissioned especially for Made in Temple Bar.

Tickets are free but you must book at:
