Eugene McCabe was born in Glasgow in 1930. He was educated in Ireland. His novel Death and Nightingales was described by Michael Ondaatje as ‘a deeply moving, powerful, and unforgettable book’.
A farmer for most of his life, in this documentary he talks about about how he resumed writing in 1993 after a thirteen year break and the origin of 'Nightingales and Death', the story of a local murder.
