Dr. Jude Capper is an animal scientist specialising in the dairy industry, dealing with carbon production, water useage and anti-microbial resistance amongst other areas. Jude is in the news as one of the people behind Februdairy, which followed on from Veganuary..

Dublin Fruit & Veg Market

In 2015, Dublin’s wholesale fruit and vegetable market got the go ahead for a rejuvenation plan with millions set aside to restore and transform the Victorian building into a retail and wholesale market. Since then there’s been repairs to the roof and inside of the building, but progress has come to a standstill. Bridget Nicholas went to Dublin’s North inner city to find out.

Farming is still Ireland’s most dangerous job and the latest sad story came this week with the coroner’s inquest into the death of 67-year-old Mayo farmer Tony O'Malley in a quad accident. Mayo County Coroner Patrick O’Connor called for Roll bars to be fitted to all quad bikes. To try and make some sense of the way forward in Quad bike safety, guests this morning included Pat Griffin from the the Health and Safety Authority, Pip Courtney from ABC TV’s LANDLINE programme and Co Laois, dairy farmer Paul Hyland.

"Lakeside Stories" is a new documentary film about connections between generations, raising questions about what's been lost and gained in the social life of a rural parish in our increasingly globalised world. It features elderly residents reflecting on these changes in moving interviews conducted by teenagers from the Loughgraney youth club based in Flagmount, East Clare. John Cooke spoke to some of those involved.

A 91 year ban on the sale of alcohol on Good Friday will come to an end in pubs across Ireland next Month – but not in one North Cork Town. All of the publicans in Newmarket have decided to keep their doors shut and stick with tradition despite the change in the law – John Scanlon from Scanlons pub in Newmarket spoke on the programme
