The Consumers Association of Ireland say groceries are up 12% in 2 years. The farmers are protesting that they are being paid less. We hear what Limerick shoppers are saying and , also in Limerick, Mairead Lavery of the Farmers Journal tries to explain where the rip off is, and just who benefits from “cheap food”.

Martin Blake, Chief Veterinary Officer in the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, is on hand to discuss the latest turns of the meat fraud affair with Ella McSweeney. Ella has talked to another Vet who has concerns about the way the Dept is handling food safety and Martin Blake responds. Julia Glotz, of The Grocer , the main UK Retail Food Journal, joins in from London with a view from outside the island of Ireland.
