Useful Hints

Plants
Pyracantha shrub
Pyracantha shrub
Why not put some plants in your garden to attract birds? Berry bushes such as these Pyracantha(right) and Cotoneaster (below left) are both decorative and a good source of food for birds like thrushes and finches. Don't be upset at the birds eating all your "beautiful berries". Berries are designed to attract the birds that eat them and spread the seeds of the shrub hidden in the berries.

Cats
Beware of cats
Beware of cats
Beware of cats, they love to spring out from under bushes and attack small birds. If you own a cat get a good bell collar for it. If you think this is cruel it is nothing compared to the cruelty your cat will inflict on garden birds all year round. Do not provide ambush facilities for them. Put feeders and bird baths in open areas away from low bushes or nearby boundary walls.
