The Metropolitan Opera, New York presents Verdi's Don Carlos
For the first time in company history, the Met presents the original five-act French version of Verdi's epic opera of doomed love among royalty, set against the backdrop of the Spanish Inquisition. Yannick Nézet-Séguin leads a world-beating cast of opera's leading lights, including tenor Matthew Polenzani in the title role, soprano Sonya Yoncheva as Élisabeth de Valois, and mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton as Eboli. Bass-baritone Eric Owens is Philippe II and the Grand Inquisitor, and baritone Etienne Dupuis rounds out the all-star principal cast as Rodrigue.

The concert reintroduces forgotten Galician composers whose music was obliterated from the public eye in Soviet times. Ten composers were selected out of more than thousand music makers who lived and developed musical culture at the turn of the epochs (before World War I Galicia, with its centre in Lviv, belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire and during the inter-war period - to Poland). Liz Nolan presents a showcase of unabridged musical masterworks, featuring live recordings of Irish and international performers, plus selections from the latest CD releases.
