The Metropolitan Opera, New York presents Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin
Ailyn Pérez has excited Met audiences in several of opera's benchmark soprano roles, and she adds another one this season as Tatiana, the naïve young girl who grows into a sophisticated beauty in Tchaikovsky's sumptuous opera of unrequited love. Baritone Igor Golovatenko returns on the heels of an impressive 2019 Met debut in The Queen of Spades to sing the title role of the urbane nobleman who rejects Tatiana, much to his later dismay. Star tenor and audience favorite Piotr Beczala is the hot-headed Lenski, and James Gaffigan conducts.

VESPERTINE WITH ELLEN CRANITCH
Navá is a quartet which explores the rich folk music heritage of Persia and Ireland. Their new album is called TORANJ - Farsi for the central point of a Persian rug's design, where the various patterns all meet. It's reflective of the creative vision that drives an innovative, adventurous group of musicians weaving their influences and instruments into a rich sonic tapestry, charting a confident next step in the development of this unique ensemble. It's the album of the week on Vespertine.

AEDÍN GORMLEY'S SUNDAY MATINÉE
Ahead of Joyce DiDonato's concert at the National Concert Hall, Aedín takes a look at the mezzo- soprano's latest project 'Eden', which explores our individual connection to nature and its impact on our world. It's an all-Mozart concert featuring two works, one played by an Irish Orchestra and one by a Ukrainian Orchestra. The Irish Chamber Orchestra conducted by Jörg Widmann perform Mozart's Symphony No. 41 in C major, K.551, (Jupiter), and we'll hear Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante performed by Ukrainian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
