Liam O'Brien is the Series Producer of the Documentary on One.

Liam began producing with the Documentary On One unit in 2005. Having been appointed Series Producer in September 2008, the Documentary On One has since gone on to win over 250 national and international awards - making it the most successful radio documentary unit in the world at present - and the most successful programme strand in the history of RTÉ Radio and/or TV (in awards terms).

To date, Liam has been involved in over 300 Documentary on One productions and has travelled extensively throughout Ireland and across the world (5 continents). During his time as series producer, the Documentary On One has developed a large and successful online presence with the availability of more than 1,600 documentaries on their website and mobile apps.

Liam holds a B.A (Hons) in Music from Waterford Institute of Technology and an M.A. (Hons) in Music Technology from the University of Limerick.

After leaving college in 2000, he began work with RTÉ, where he worked as a production co-ordinator with RTÉ LyricFM in Limerick. During that time, he also studied part-time, achieving a Dip. in Journalism (Hons)

In 2003, having become a producer, he moved to Dublin to begin working with RTÉ Radio 1. In his first year he produced the 'Tonight with Vincent Browne' show. He then went on to produce award winning radio drama before moving on to produce almost a dozen radio feature series. He has also worked across most daytime programming within RTÉ Radio 1.

In 2006, Liam achieved a scholarship place on the European Broadcasting Union Masterschool for young radio documentary makers.

In October 2009, Liam became the first Irish representative to tutor on the European Broadcasting Union Masterschool 2010-2011

Liam occasionally produced live programming for RTÉ 2FM, including their festival content from the Oxegen Festival held at Punchestown, the Electric Picnic Festival held in Stradbally and the SXSW festival held in Austin, Texas.
