Season Strands Overview
Returning in 2011-2012 are themed strands built around the artistic team (Principal Conductor, Alan Buribayev; Principal Guest Conductor, Hannu Lintu; and Associate Artist, Finghin Collins), styles of performance (Soloist Directs), programme strands (Mozart piano concerti and French music) and large scale choral works.
Principal Conductor Series
Featuring the start of the Prokofiev Symphonies Cycle - including Symphony No. 2 which Buribayev believes 'will appeal to people who also like hard rock or Metallica!'; the massive orchestral score of Scriabin's Prometheus; and Richard Strauss' Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme with a narration, based on Molière, by Buribayev himself.

Principal Guest Conductor Series
Including Anders Hillborg's Clarinet Concerto: Peacock Tales containing elements of mime, choreography and light effects, performed by the virtuoso clarinettist, Martin Fröst, alongside Beethoven's Fifth Symphony; the classical radiance of Sibelius' Third Symphony with Zemlinsky's Lyric Symphony; Matthias Pintscher's Towards Osiris with Lutoslawski's Concerto for Orchestra; and Einojuhani Rautavaara's Incantations alongside Shostakovich's Eighth Symphony.

Associate Artist Series
Finghin Collins continues his journey through the complete Mozart piano concerti, conducts a concert including Mozart concert arias with Dutch soprano Lenneke Ruiten, starts the Beethoven Piano Concerti cycle and gives the world première of The Binding of the Years, a new work commissioned by RTÉ for Finghin as Associate Artist.

Soloists Directs Series
Including Mozart and Beethoven piano concerti directed from the keyboard by Associate Artist, Finghin Collins; and Julian Rachlin directing from both the violin and the viola respectively in Beethoven's Violin Concerto and Hindemith's Trauermusik for viola and strings.

Including Bach's Christmas Oratorio (Beyond the Season special event), performed over two nights at St Patrick's Cathedral, with singers including the acclaimed British tenor, Mark Padmore, and the Requiems of both Mozart and Brahms.
