Met Éireann has issued two Status Yellow warnings for rain and thunder over much of the midlands, west and south.

A rainfall warning is operation for Wexford, Cork and Waterford with spells of heavy rain forecast, especially in coastal areas with a risk of localised flooding.

The warning will be in place until 6am tomorrow.

Meanwhile, a Status Yellow thunder warning will be in place from 1pm until 9pm for Munster, Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wexford, Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.

Localised heavy downpours, hail and localised flooding are likely in places.

Heavy rain overnight has led to flooding in parts of Co Cork.
