Met Éireann has issued a status orange wind warning for eight counties as result of Storm Atiyah.
The storm will track between Iceland and Ireland on Sunday generating strong winds across the country.
Winds with speeds of between 65-80km/h with gusts of 110-130km/h are expected to hit counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Kerry and Limerick on Sunday morning.
The forecaster has also warned of the possibility of coastal flooding due to a combination of high seas and the storm surge.
The warning will be in place from 9am on Sunday until 6am on Monday.
A yellow warning has been issued for the rest of country, with average wind speeds of 50-60km/h with gusts of up to 100km/h expected.
The warning comes into effect at 3pm on Sunday and will remain in place until 6am on Monday.
