The European Court of Human Rights has today rejected an application from a Belfast woman whose son was shot and killed by an RUC officer in 1992.
The mother of Pearse Jordan had complained about the delay between the ECHR's 2001 judgment concerning her son’s death and the conclusion of the third inquest in 2016.
Jordan, a member of the provisional IRA was shot dead by the Royal Ulster Constabulary in November 1992.
His death was the subject of three inquests, the last of which did not conclude until 2016.
His parents claimed that the delay in the inquest was a breach of Article 2 and Article 13 of the European Convention of Human Rights.
