Forty-one people were arrested in Donegal overnight for a number of offences.

Four people were arrested for dangerous driving, four people were arrested for drink driving and one person was arrested for being drunk in charge of a vehicle, according to local gardaí.

The driving offences happened as the Donegal International Rally took place in the county this weekend.

Separately a man has died following a collision in the rally.  

There were also 21 arrests for public order offences, one arrest for an assault on a garda member, eight arrests under the Misuse of Drugs Act, one arrest for the sale and supply of drugs and one arrest for a Section 3 assault (assault causing harm).
